A bit about me...

I began exploring yoga in 1999 and started sharing my love of yoga through teaching in 2004. It is my goal to provide a warm and welcoming style of yoga that is accessible to individuals of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. I believe strongly in the power of yoga to transform individuals through breath, strength, flexibility, mental focus, body awareness, and self acceptance.

I feel fortunate to be able to compliment my yoga training and experience with a solid foundation and understanding of the human body in motion, having received a BS in Exercise Science from Wayne State College in 1998. I feel my experience over the past 10 years watching/helping people move and talking to individuals/groups about personal health related issues brings the depth to my teaching that only experience can offer. I strive to provide opportunities that improve physical and mental health while promoting self awareness and acceptance.

In the fall of 2006, with the support of my loving husband, I quit my full time job to focus on my business as a yoga teacher and fitness instructor. This change also allows me to spend more time caring for our two young children in my favorite role...Mommy. I currently work as an independent teacher in the community of Grinnell, IA and have dreams of one day opening my own yoga studio and integrated center for wellness.

My experience

I started going to yoga classes because they were offered with my gym membership. I don't expect these classes to have any spiritual content. However, I also go to Bihar and Iyengar classes. In the Bihar classes, we do Yoga Nidra at every class; it's a part of every lesson.

Best wishes,

John
